Dr. Koehler has found that AT HOME BLEACHING using a carbamide peroxide gel place in a custom-made mouth guard has the greatest patient satisfaction. The clear mouth guard is extremely thin and in most cases, can be worn without others noticing. Patients usually wear it while they sleep, but it can also be worn during the day for faster results. A whiter shade can usually be noticed after a couple of days and optimum results are usually achieved in an average of 3 weeks.

IN OFFICE BLEACHING can lighten the teeth using a concentrated form of carbamide peroxide placed on the teeth and situated under an intense light in the dental office in about 1 hour. Although the process yields immediate results, the whiteness of the initial treatment diminishes and return trips are often necessary. Because this technique requires an hour in the dental office, this is the most expensive type of whitening.
